Since today is Memorial Day, we went over to the cemetery in Los Gatos where Paul's grandpa is buried to put flowers on his grave.

We went to see Wicked at the Orpheum theater in San Francisco.  I have been wanting to see this for so long and finally bought half-price tickets that were great seats.  We were in the 20th row, right in the center of the theater.  Paul and I loved the storyline and the music and the costumes and the set.  The only complaint we had was that the actress who played Elphaba was kind of having an off-night and was a little bit pitchy sometimes.  But Glinda was fabulous.

Cafe Artemis - a delicious turkish/greek restaurant at the Pruneyard near our apartment.  Paul was very excited when the music started and a belly dancer came out.  The kebab was quite good and the flavors were very authentic to what we remember from our trip last fall.

The view when we woke up in the morning at Half Moon Bay.  We went for a little walk while Paul's cousins slept in.

I was trying to get a photo of myself by putting the camera on the sand - I like the texture and interesting perspective of the angle.  But I was never very successful.

Paul and I made scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes for breakfast.

Some of them got a little burnt while we tried to figure out how hot the griddle cooked.

Even a sleepy girl remembers to make this face first photo in the morning.

We went camping at Half Moon Bay with Paul's cousin Scott and his family.  We left right after work and threw all of our camping gear into the car, then drove to the ocean.  Paul set up the tent.

You can see how close our campsite was to the ocean. 

Almost every time I pointed the camera at this little girl she made this face.  It was pretty hilarious.

At one point I gave her my camera and let her take photo after photo.  She posed her subjects if you can't tell.

I didn't get home from work until almost 9:00.  At that point the worst of my hunger was gone, so I just had bread and fresh raspberry jam for dinner.

I really, really don't like Wal-Mart.  I will do pretty much anything to avoid that place.  Except that apparently it is the only place in all of the Bay Area that sells MCP Pectin which is the particular kind of pectin I use to make jam.  Poor Paul has been really sad that our precious quantities of raspberry jam that we pilfered from my parent's freezer have been depleted, so I bit the bullet and drove to Gilroy with Paul to go to the Wal-Mart.  It actually wasn't the most awful Wal-Mart trip ever.  This particular store was pretty much empty of people, had huge aisles so I didn't feel claustrophobic like I normally do in Wal-Mart, and was well-lit and clean.

We had a marvelous Saturday.  First we went to the temple.

Then we went to the beach at Capitola-by-the-Sea.

It was sunny, but a little on the chilly side.

But we decided that ice cream was in order at our favorite ice cream place - Ice Cream by Marianne in Santa Cruz.  First you have to take a number, then decide which flavor to get.  They change out their flavors but on this day, these were the options.  Paul went with chocolate chocolate swirl and 10-20 (which is basically caramel and oreos).  I had maple walnut and Northern Oregon blackberry.

Then you pay - Cash only.

And then you enjoy.

This morning we went to the Lexington Dam near where we live to participate in "Mormon Helping Hands" - a statewide service project put on by our church.  We cleaned up trails.  It was actually pretty fun chatting with friends and enjoying the beautiful area we live in.
