A walk in the park. Or along the Los Gatos Creek trail. We had a beautiful Sabbath day.

Green Screen.
Jamba Juice actually. We went house-hunting today. Not really, but we looked up a bunch of open houses, then drove around and walked through them, just for fun. Home-ownership is a long way off for us.

Dinnertime. This is not just a quick fix weekday meal for us. I absolutely LOVE this Bertolli's dish - roasted chicken and linguine in a tomato basil sauce. Normally it is pretty pricey but whenever I see them on sale I stock up. They are expensive, but still better than eating out. You basically just dump the bag into a pan, cover and cook 8-9 minutes, stirring once or twice. It is delicious.

At Borders again. I had to get The Mysterious Benedict Society with my 30% off coupon. I've heard so many good things. We have an excellent Borders at Santana Row. Paul likes to look at the photography books while I look at the fiction. We didn't go over to the travel section tonight, which is usually our favorite spot.

More gym photos. Since Paul bought me a new camera to replace my old point-and-click that I either lost or had stolen from me on our travels it is easier to take better photos in questionably embarrassing locations. This is a much sweatier photo. I'm really proud of that sweat. Thirty minutes straight at 6.0 mph is not exactly a walk in the park for me.
Running really fast. This picture gives a pretty good sense of what the gym at our apartment complex is like.
My legs are so white and flabby. I'm going to work some shape into these babies. These are my new $8.00 running shorts. They are much more comfortable than yoga pants for running purposes because they are so much cooler.

Gassing up at Rotten Robbie's a couple blocks from our apartment. I really, really don't like having to fill my car with gas during the week because it is just an annoying extra errand before or after work that I don't want to have to deal with. Usually I can get by on one tank of gas each week, even with my commute.

I have read the bible through cover-to-cover multiple times. The Old Testament is fascinating. I mean really, seriously enthralling. I'm reading it again this year and am in Exodus right now. This is on the floor by the kitchen. It's good lighting down there.
This is typical now that I have a blackberry. We went on a date to a nice asian-fusion restaurant at Santana Row and I had to check up on emails and work during our dinner of roti prahta, beef rendang, and pad thai. It's not so bad though - kind of perversely exciting in a lawyerly sort of way.

Back in the office. Yesterday the power went out for Palo Alto because of a tragic plane crash so I stayed at home and worked where I could connect to the internet and electricity. I keep photos from some of our travels on the corkboard to look at and reminisce about globe-trotting times. I'm ready for another adventure. Tonight I wish I was in Scotland.

Obviously this is another night where we procrastinated our daily photo shoot until just before bedtime. I hate going to bed with dirty dishes in the sink. It happens sometimes, but not as much now that we have a dishwasher.

Behind on 365. Don't worry though - we've been taking a photo every day. Even when it is late, late, late and my hair is wet from the shower.

Monday was President's Day and I didn't have to work, so we went into San Francisco first, then drove down the PCH to Half Moon Bay (where I surfed a couple of summers ago). It is glorious there - warm and breezy and perfect. I love this little girl - she was so much fun to be around while our friends were visiting. I want one just like her someday.

We spent a beautiful Valentine's Day afternoon at Big Basin and then Santa Cruz with our friends Nathaniel and Dorothy and their adorable daughter Summer. There was some kind of hula-hooping event going on with music playing and huge, heavy professional-grade hula-hoops for anyone to join in the fun. Of course I couldn't resist.

Costco. What an awesome place. We made lunch out of the samples that were handed out. Cheap? Maybe. Big find - Jack Daniel's BBQ shredded chicken. Oh baby.
This is kind of a ghetto booty shot. But whatever.

Sweaty. I love the way it feels after a good run. Too bad the camera didn't capture how ridiculously red my face gets after a workout.

We had such a fun mid-week pre-Valentine's Day double date with Paige and Mike. We ate at a place called BJ's which was super yummy. Good call Mike.

Today was a good day. We woke up early and went to the temple. I took a two hour nap. I did some stuff for work. We drove up to Castle Rock State Park and did a little hike up to Castle Rock. It's not much, but it was still interesting. Because it was raining off and on and we forgot to take an umbrella (since it was nice and dry in the valley) we had to duck into caves or under trees periodically to stay (mostly) dry. When we got home I went for a quick run. I still need to plan next week's meals, go grocery shopping, and bake cookies.
February 5, 2010
I'm kind of a floor person. You know, I sit on the floor to watch TV even though we have a perfectly good couch, I like to take naps on the floor even though we have a perfectly good bed, and I like to lay on my stomach and read on the floor even though we have a perfectly good desk or table.
Although sometimes at night I will sit in bed and read before I go to sleep. Right now I am reading "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman and Paul is re-reading "The City of Ember" by Jeanne DuPrau.

This is me and Amy watching TV before our apartment complex fire alarm went off. Lucky for us, everyone has a fire alarm siren installed INSIDE the apartment, so we can lose our hearing. I'm sitting here writing this while wearing earplugs. The stupid alarm has been going off for about 45 minutes now. It is super annoying. Apparently all the buildings in our complex have the alarms going. I'm just hoping the sprinklers don't go off next. That would suck.

I may be a grown woman, but I act like a 4-year old once I am in the dentist's chair with that blue papery bib collared around my neck.
The cycloptic eye.
So when I got to the dentist this morning before work I was all tense because I was nervous about the pain and discomfort I was anticipating. I told the hygienist this and explained that I was a total baby when it came to getting my teeth cleaned or filled and that I have passed out from getting shots in the past. I also explained that I was just going to turn up the music on my ipod and go to a happy place while they did their thing.
My mouth was already numb at this point. Thus the general lack of facial expression and lips tightly closed to keep from drooling.
That worked pretty well in spite of that high-pitched squeal of the drill that I could never quite get past by upping the volume of the Glee soundtrack. But right when the dentist was finishing up, the assistant (who was really nice) was using the suctiony thingy to suction the spit out of my mouth and I was thinking that I was home free, when all of a sudden the top of the suction thing popped off and fell back into my mouth. It was super startling - I thought it was a drill piece or something that was going beserk and was going to cut up the inside of my mouth and pierce my cheeks and stuff and I totally jumped - as did they - and started hyperventilating and freaking out. The hygienist snatched it out as fast as she could, but then I was all traumatized and I started crying, big crocodile tears leaking out of my eyes, just out of sheer nerves. It was way, way embarassing.
The instruments of torture.
After I calmed down I explained to the dentist that I have this huge fear that the drill bit is going to slip in my mouth and slice through my cheek. He, I think in an attempt to sympathize, said that he has the same fear. I'm not sure he meant whether he fears the same thing when he is in the chair, or that, as my dentist, he worries that he might do this to someone. The latter is not very reassuring, is it?

Since I had a coupon for buy one 6" sub and a drink, get a 6" sub free, we decided to eat Subway for dinner. I'm not a huge fan, but it was actually pretty tasty. Paul always gets the Italian Meatball sub. I rotate through different meats and breads but I always get all of the veggies except green peppers and olives. Tonight I had turkey and ham.
This was another one of those situations where Paul doesn't want to bring the camera in because he is embarrassed taking photos of our everyday life in public settings. So although I was able to coax and cajole him into taking a real photo with the good camera outside Subway, I had to use my phone camera inside.
Our local Subway.
This is what I look like while eating a sandwich.
The photos the past couple of days have been kind of weird, huh?
